The recent uncertainty over NSF funding has prompted numerous questions about the status of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). We created this site to provide updates on the status of the program.
UPDATE (8 Sept 2025): According to the NSF-GRFP website, the status of the program has been changed from “Waiting for new publication” to “Solicitation coming soon.” This is the first indication on the NSF’s website (or any other government source that we’re aware of) that the 2025 call for applications might be forthcoming. Additionally, the website now lists deadlines for fall 2025, with the first falling at 5:00pm on Monday, October 27. See the website for the deadline for the directorate to which you are applying.
Prospective candidates are encouraged to continue to visit the NSF-GRFP website to stay abreast of the situation.
We will continue to update this site with new information as it becomes available. (Previous update was 3 September 2025.)
