The recent uncertainty over NSF funding has prompted numerous questions about the status of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). According to the NSF-GRFP website, the status of the program is “Waiting for new publication.” In other words, the 2025 call for applications has not been issued, and the application, which normally opens in July, is not yet available.
NSF has not been responsive to inquiries from us or our counterparts at other colleges, universities, or professional associations. As a result, we do not know when, or if, this year’s application cycle will happen.
